Terms and conditions of the au-pair program

Thanks to a lot of greenery, lakes and forests Belgium will become the second home for all nature lovers. During your stay in Belgium as an au-pair you will be provided to you a room and food by your host family for free. Host family also pays for health insurance.

To be included in the program it is necessary to meet the basic conditions:

  • You must be at least 18 years old,
  • English or French at Intermediate level, German is also advantage in some host families,
  • Practical experience and positive attitude to children (some families require references available in English),
  • Good health, extract from criminal records,
  • Responsibility, independence and flexibility,
  • Driving licence is an advantage.

Wage and working conditions:

  • 30 working hour per week (hours are agreed in advance, depends on needs of your host family).
  • Pocket money - the amount of money depends on agreement (one of the factors is also lenght of the stay) - minimum allowance is 430 € per month.
  • 2 days off per week (depending on needs of your host family).

Job description:

  • Childcare - depends on lifestyle and other specifics of the host family. For example it includes accompanying children to the kindergarten/school, afternoon leisure time activities, hygiene, preparation for school.
  • simple house work to keep household clean - vacuuming, washing, ironing and food preparation.
  • „Babysitting“ - watch the children in the evening or during weekends (depends on needs of your host family aprox. 2-3 times per week).
